Mexico Invests In Language Education Technology

Mexico is investing heavily in language education programs in schools. The aim is to increase competitiveness and employment. Sanako, the global leader in developing language teaching software and language labs for the educational sector, showcased how to successfully utilize innovative teaching technology in language education. The breakfast event was arranged together with Videonet Sa de CV and the Finnish Embassy in Mexico on 15 December, 2010. The Finnish Ambassador of Mexico Ms. Ulla Väistö and Mr. Kimmo Kärpijoki from Sanako discussed their views on utilizing technology in education at the event

The Mexican ministries and educational institutions have noted the need for improving language teaching and have launched programs offering financing. In addition to the Ministry of the Education’s programs, educational institutions, private and public organizations can apply financing to acquire technology for certified learning from programs including Mexico’s FIRST and Prosoft.

“In the global economy, Mexico’s international competitiveness is more and more affected by skills in a foreign language, in this case English. Language skills will also have a tremendous positive effect on the employment of the citizens”, explains Kimmo Kärpijoki, Senior Vice President Project Business at Sanako Corporation.

“As one of the leading countries in language education, Finland has a lot to offer when it comes to language teaching and education technology. When the quality of teaching and students’ success are measured, Finland is one of the leading countries in the international innovation and competitiveness reports as well as in the latest OECD’s PISA 2009 report”, says The Finnish Ambassador of Mexico Ms. Ulla Väistö.

Ms. Väistö has written the foreword in Professor Eduardo Andere’s new publication “Finlandia. El éxito en PISA y más allá comienza en primaria y más atrás”. The publication reviews the success story of the Finnish education system. She is also known as an advocate for the Finnish education technology and training model.

Finland has successfully utilized innovative teaching technology in education. A significant part of the successful language learning method is to do exercises in practice.

“We want to offer every Mexican student a possibility to learn a foreign language by practicing, as it is not possible for everyone to attend a student exchange program in the U.S.”, explains Kimmo Kärpijoki, Senior Vice President Project Business at Sanako Corporation.

With Sanako’s modern education technology, it is possible to offer cost-effective language teaching which is based on the standards of the Mexico’s Ministry of Education (Secretaria de Educacion Publican) and curriculum of the schools.

“Sanako’s language laboratories are renowned for making language teachers’ job easier, helping schools to achieve their targets and to improve students’ language skills considerably and permanently”, says Mr. Kärpijoki.
